VLAN Best Practices
VLAN 1:
Never use for production traffic. Keep for management only or disable entirely.
Management VLAN:
Use a dedicated VLAN (typically VLAN 99 or similar) for switch management.
Voice VLANs:
Separate voice traffic from data for Quality of Service (QoS) purposes.
Guest VLANs:
Isolate guest traffic from internal network resources.
Native VLAN:
Change from default VLAN 1 to an unused VLAN for security.
VTP Mode:
Use transparent mode to avoid accidental VLAN database changes.
